When I Grow to Old to Dream

What can you say about this band? It has fun, some band vocals, it swings hard and is all acoustic. Rhythm guitarist Dave Kelbie was once described as the rolls royce of rhythm sections and has recorded and played with Fapy Lafertin and Angelo Debarre. Sebastien Girardot does precisely what's needed on this record with a big tone and beat driving the band. David Blenkhorn playing his 'oval hole' Crocker guitar is always fresh and inventive with a distinctive tone and lyrical solos. George Washingmachine is one of australia's top entertainers with his blend of humour, vocals and swinging violin.

MTV asia quoted the band..."Frontman George Washingmachine was like the court jester of jazz, teasing the audience with the band's idiosyncratic blend of swing and gypsy jazz."

Dutch pianist harry kanters is a well loved character amongst the european traditional jazz scene. Always an exciting and swinging pianist to listen to he also has incredible taste in ties .This cd is his homage to the great Nat King Cole featuring the vocal talents and guitar playing of David Blenkhorn and the swinging bass of Sebastien Girardot.

This was the last set of the 10 day festival of Ascona where James Chirillo decided to come and hang with the band to play a few tunes. We didn't know that a fan (Claude Brandey) had recorded it until he presented us with a cd months later. It was a great session of spirited playing in the piazza ambrosoli with the great Bob Barnard on cornet, Ben Jones (saxophone),Washo (fiddle and vocals),Harry Kanters (piano),Sebastien Girardot (bass),Anthony Howe (drums) and leader David Blenkhorn on acoustic guitar. A special moment was on the tune 'swonderful with David, Bob and Sebastien where it all happened in the moment jam session style with James Chirillo on electric guitar.
